Chicken continues to be the choice protein for consumers across Canada. In fact, while per capita meat consumption is decreasing nationally, chicken consumption continues to rise.

In addition, the way Canadians shop for and where they eat continues to evolve. For example, recent survey found that micro-trips in-store – visiting the grocery store throughout the week rather than saving up for one big shop —  is the “new norm” for Canadian consumers. And, of course, there is the impact of food-savvy Millennials has changed foodservice – a trend that will no doubt continue as this demographic enters parenthood.

Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) wants to help. For the second year in a row, CFO is making millions of kilograms of chicken available to companies with innovative consumer chicken products.

If you’ve got a consumer facing, first-of-its-kind in Canada product made with chicken grown and fully processed in Ontario that has some track record (piloted or introduced in the last 18 months with at least six months of sales data), all you have to do to be considered is apply.

The program is open to further processors, primary processors, food retailers, restaurants and foodservice operators.* And, there is an opportunity for multiple innovations to share in the millions of kilograms as applications are assessed on their own merits.
